Heritage Open Days: the Sheffield Blitz

At the National Emergency Services Museum I researched, wrote and delivered a talk on the Sheffield Blitz for Heritage Open Days. The talk was based around six key objects in the museum's collection and was unusual for the museum in that it was delivered within its wartime exhibition gallery. The talk was very well attended and received excellent feedback; so much so that the museum made the decision to add it to its programme of public events for the following year.

Visitor events

At the National Emergency Services Museum I helped to plan, manage and deliver a variety of visitor-facing events both at the museum, and further afield as part of its community outreach. For example, for the museum's annual 1940s Christmas weekend I created, developed and delivered an engagement activity around wartime rationing which generated much interest and proved popular with visitors. So much so I was asked to repeat the activity a number of times at similar museum events.

Quiz nights

After introducing and delivering an extremely successful and well-received Christmas staff quiz as part of my role at the Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University, I was commissioned to deliver the event for the faculty on a freelance basis from 2015. I took on researching, writing and preparing all questions, including picture and audio rounds; providing all quiz resources including prizes; and presenting the quiz to 100  staff members on the night. The event was always fully subscribed and was a hugely popular fixture in the staff calendar, and feedback was hugely positive. As a result of the success of this event, I was further commissioned to deliver similar events for students within the faculty.

Heritage Open Days: Collegiate Crescent

At Sheffield Hallam University I was part of the team delivering the University's activity for Heritage Open Days. This included a very successful series of public tours of the historic Collegiate Crescent campus. I researched and wrote the tour and delivered it to more than 70 people across five separate tours. The event received fantastic feedback, with 100 per cent of attendees rating it 'excellent' or 'very good', and I was later invited to present a bespoke version of the tour to a group of University alumni.
